The uncertain road for culture in climate policy; COP30 opens a new path
There was great anticipation from culture advocates as COP30 opened in Belém, Brazil on November 10. For two years, experts commissioned by the Chairs of the UNFCCC subsidiary Bodies (under the UAE-Belem work programme) had worked tirelessly to end the over 40 years’ history of no culture in climate policy. The experts worked to develop indicators to measure progress towards the seven thematic (one of which related to the intersectionality of culture and climate change) and four-dimensional targets of the Framework for Global Climate Resilience (FGCR).
Now Hiring: Membership Coordinator
The Membership Coordinator will handle Climate Heritage Network (CHN) member onboarding, membership inquiries and direct member services in the US and globally and will support transition to a new membership dues structure. The Membership Coordinator will also support and promote engagement by CHN North America members in the CHN’s Global Campaign to Put Cultural Heritage, Arts and Creative Sectors at the Heart of Climate Action.

Global network launches new plan to empower people to imagine and realise climate resilient futures through culture - from arts to heritage
The Climate Heritage Network (CHN) is a global network of more than 250 member organisations committed to supporting communities in achieving the ambitions of the Paris Agreement by scaling up culture-based climate action. The new Action Plan announced today by the network of organisations, charities, government bodies, universities, memory and cultural institutions, and cultural and creative industries from around the world seeks to fill this gap.
CHN Members work to raise the profile of Climate Change at Mondiacult 2022
The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development, known as MONDIACULT 2022, opens on 28 September in Mexico City, Mexico. The Conference, which brings together national Ministers of Culture from around the world, is meant to be ‘a renewed reflection on cultural policies to tackle global challenges and outline immediate and future priorities.’
