Marrakech Partnership Accelerator-Cultural Global Stocktake for Climate Action
Last week, I had the privilege of representing the Climate Heritage Network (CHN) and CCFU at Marrakech Partnership Accelerator in Marrakech, Morocco (March 23-28, 2026). This high-level gathering brought together over 50 cultural delegates to drive discussions on integrating culture into climate action.
Marking the Marrakech Partnership Accelerator's 10th anniversary, the event played a key role in shaping the cultural conversation ahead of SB64 in Bonn and COP31 in Antalya-Turkey. We emphasized the need to include culture in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and global climate strategies.
The Bristish Council supported evenings were a highlight punctuated with culturally rich Moroccan food and performances resonating with our cause of cultural preservation, including:
Cultural tours: Kolchi Beldi Farm visit showcased women's cooperatives' local dishes, sustainable practices and traditional climate knowledge
Intergenerational storytelling: Preserving Darija heritage
Networking: Memorable evening at Kennaria Hotel, hosted by British Council- Morocco
Closing event: Celebrations with local dances and speeches from Goethe-Institut, COP30-Youth Climate Champion, and UNFCCC, Bristish Ambassador to Morocco
