The Climate Heritage Network (CHN) is a global network of more than 250 member organisations committed to supporting communities in achieving the ambitions of the Paris Agreement by scaling up culture-based climate action. The new Action Plan announced today by the network of organisations, charities, government bodies, universities, memory and cultural institutions, and cultural and creative industries from around the world seeks to fill this gap.

The Co-Chairs of the Climate Heritage Network have announced the members of the Network’s Steering Committee for 2022-24. The new CHN Steering Committee representatives were selected by the Network’s elected regional Co-Chairs from among nominated candidates seconded by CHN Members.

The Mayor of Cuenca, Ecuador Pedro Palacios Ullauri, has been announced as a new Co-Chair of the Climate Heritage Network, the world’s leading alliance of arts, culture and heritage organisations for climate action, uniting a global coalition of 150 international, national and subnational networks, governments and organisations.

The newly formed Climate Heritage Network released its first action plan to help mobilise arts, culture and heritage for climate action at an event held in Madrid at COP25, the 2019 UN Climate Summit. Dubbed the Madrid-to-Glasgow Arts, Culture and Heritage Climate Action Plan, its release kicks off a year of culture-based climate action that will culminate in 2020 at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Organisations across the arts, culture and heritage sector are being called on to take urgent action against climate change as a new international network launches in Edinburgh today (Thursday 24 Oct, 2019) at an event hosted by Historic Environment Scotland (HES).
