Dismantling Barriers, Scaling Up Action: Get Ready for COP26 with our Climate Heritage Mobilisation @ Climate Fridays Webinar Series!

It’s great to talk about mobilising arts, culture & heritage for climate action but what does that really mean & how do we do it? In the run up to the 2021 UN Climate Conference, COP26, the Climate Heritage Network in partnership with Historic England presents Climate Heritage Mobilisation @ Climate Fridays — a webinar series that explores how we dismantle barriers to greater engagement by cultural operators in climate action, and how we scale up and out culture-based solutions to climate change.

Increasingly, voices in the arts, culture and heritage sectors have boldly begun to assert that these fields may be one of the key, missing elements. They argue that the world can no longer afford to leave untapped the immense potential of trusted cultural institutions, experienced professionals and time-tested wisdom to drive climate action and support just transitions by communities towards low carbon, climate resilient futures.

The question is how do we realise this potential? In 2019, the newly formed Climate Heritage Network released its initial plan to help do just that.  Dubbed the Madrid-to-Glasgow Arts, Culture and Heritage Climate Action Plan, its release at the 2019 UN Climate Summit in Madrid kicked off a two-year CHN effort aimed to equip the culture sector with more tools to do its part in tackling climate change.

Work on the CHN Action Plan was intended to culminate at COP26 in Glasgow – and now COP26 is almost here!  This webinar series will preview the tools CHN members have created over the last two years in advance of their formal launch at COP26. Each week, we’ll explore a different pathway to building the ambition and capacity of our sectors to help tack the climate emergency. Each webinar will be led by one of the CHN Working Groups,  who will emphasise the concrete actions being taken.

Join and view any or all of these free weekly webinars! The Climate Heritage Mobilisation webinar series is being held in conjunction with Historic England’s Climate Friday programme.
